The rumors that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem spread wildly. People heard of his miracles, the way he healed people, and the way he confronted the religious authorities. They knew Jesus stood up for the downtrodden, sought out the rejected, and had compassion for those persons overlooked by the rest of society. In a city where Jewish travelers and locals alike were gearing up for the big passover celebrations excitement was already building, and news of Jesus coming only served to amp it up even more. When he finally got there, he was welcomed as a king!
