First Presbyterian Church is pleased to truly offer something for everyone! We seek to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ through a variety of ministries that serve young and old alike. We invite you to spend some time and look around at the variety of ministries we offer, and see how you might like to get plugged in. Deacon Ministry

The word “deacon” comes from the Greek word “diakonos,” which means “servant” or “minister.”  At First Presbyterian Church, our deacons minister to congregants in many ways, especially at important or notable points in their lives.  Deacons serve the congregation by sharing in their times of joy and happiness; congregants will often receive a card from a deacon on their birthday or anniversary.  Deacons also stand alongside members in times of pain and distress.  If a congregant should become a hospital patient, they will likely receive a flower and a visit from a deacon.  Deacons are also present to offer care and empathy at the death of a loved one.  Deacons serve the congregation alongside the pastors in an important ministry of the church. Congregational Life and Outreach

It could be argued that fellowship equals fun, and we have a lot of fun together at First Presbyterian Church!  Fellowship is an integral part of the community we share as a family of faith, and can be found in many ways throughout the life of the church.  A regularly scheduled fellowship time is every Sunday morning in the tiled dining room, right before worship during our winter hours, and right after worship during our summer hours.  We also hold monthly church-wide potlucks the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15PM.  We like to get together for various fellowship opportunities, and have done so in the past through painting parties, the annual Ice Cream Social, the Fat Tuesday pancake supper, and many others.  Click here to see the current calendar with fellowship opportunities!

Holy Moly! Book Club

Have you ever gotten to the end of a good book and said to yourself, “Holy moly!  That was a good book!”  That’s our hope each and every month as we meet to discuss good reads with good friends.  We currently have two book clubs that meet once per month in the Chapel, and both are open to new members.  Our morning book club meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 10:00AM.  Our evening book club meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00PM.
